Recently independent consultant Tim Kuehn from Canada reminded me to write about PANS – the Progress Alert and Notification Service. PANS is a free service offered by Progress Software.
“I signed up for the PANS service years ago to keep up with the KB entries that Open Edge Tech Support generates. Recently I discovered that Progress has expanded it to cover more than just OpenEdge Knowledge Base updates”.
From https://knowledgebase.progress.com/articles/Article/000027814
“By subscribing to this service, you will receive information on Critical Alerts, announcements of Service Packs and Maintenance Releases, updates on product life cycle status changes, and notifications of new and frequently reused content within our Knowledge Center.
This service will provide information for the Progress Actional®, Artix®, Artix Data Services®, DataXtend®, FUSE®, ObjectStore®, OpenEdge®, Orbacus®, Orbix® and Sonic® product lines. Subscriptions for other product lines will be available in the near future.
The subscription process is simple, enter your email address and select the appropriate notification category or categories you would like to receive.”
Like Tim I am using this service since years and can only highly recommend it. Typically you’ll receive one email per day with a list of new entries in the knowledge base. I typically read over the list of topics and those that interest will be put aside for reading them in the near future. PANS is a very valuable resource of knowledge for every Progress developer or administrator that you shouldn’t ignore.
